Tokyo 5th Edition

This is my fifth time to Tokyo ever since i work in the company. great, isnt it. :p

we just arrived yesterday and i already feeling so so so exhausted.

had lotsa nihonshu (japanese wine) yesterday and a great teppanyaki dinner at ropponggi. we had prawns, scallops and beef. i shall talk more about it when i have the photos uploaded.

went to the used car auction center this morning. almost 20,000 cars to be auctioned every week. maseratiSSS and porscheSSS are parked there without shade, don't talk about the fleets of bmwSSSS, mercSSS, VWsss, AudiSSS, and many many many others. under the shade, you can see the ferrarisss, bentleys, hummers and some other more exclusive cars. i should have taken the photos of the auction center where they have hundreds of computers for those traders and a big screen bigger than those in TGV and GSC. I am not joking. 20,000 cars auction in one day ok!!! guess how long it will take if it's in Malaysia???!!! 1 week?? or even longer??? hehe...

am going to motorshow tomorrow and gt race at fuji this weekend. there shall be more more photos of pretty gals (which my guy frens love the most!) to be uploaded. meantime, just bear with me with this only photo taken at ropponggi hills @ 31st Oct 5pm (yes, it's 5pm!!). guys, be patient and wait k!! more pretty gals on the wayyy...

Another Wine & Dine

It has been long since I blog. I am too busy? or just being too lazy.. :p whatever! since i have the mood now, I better do it!!
this time, we had Shang Har Noodle at Greenview. Just four of us but we had six dishes, 3 bottles of wines and an Ice wine.
Shang Har Noodle, Cantonese Fried Kuey Teow, Pork Chop, Vege, Crispy Squid, Fried Oyster and hmmmmm..... temporary memory loss, I really can't recall. kekek...

As for wine, we had Gecko Cheek's Sauvignon Blanc to start of and followed by Waipara Hills Marlsbourough Sauvignon Blanc which is my favourite, then a red Jim Jim "the underdog" Shiraz and an Ice Wine to pair with the Belgian Chocolate. Leow, you are my dearest!! :p

We are not finished bcos my Saint Clair is still lying in the bag waiting for us!! We adjourned to Peyton and another two bottles gone!! kekek...

my head spinned the whole of next day.... that's the consequence of over-drinking. :(

i am still glad that we could meet up. sad though kaireen and LA couldn't join. shall arrange for the next round soon. :)

i am old

suddenly i am feeling old...
i can't stay up as late as i used to be three months ago...
i can't drink as much as i could....
i can't party, i feel lethargic, i feel sleepy most of the early nights...
i went out for dinner last week. had two glasses of white wine and my client challenged me a few rounds of pools. being my client, i have no choice but continued drinking with him.. as i feel it's a bit weird going out with a married unker, we joined my friend for more drinks and pool.
challenge me pool?? unless he is real good, my chance of winning is high. wahahaha... we played quite a few and won some money.. and of course we drank some whiskeyssss....
i was ok that night but totally down the next day. totally out.. reached office about 9am and left home to sleep at 11am. vomitted twice and slept whole day. i wasted a wine dinner the next day because i was too sick to drink. didn't have the chance to taste all the great wines. sigh...
I AM OLD... :'(

Phantom of the Opera

i have been waiting for the day. tickets were booked more than six months ago and the confirmation email has been sitting in my desktop for months. finally, here comes the phantom....

suppose to wake up and leave early from muar but the usual me drag, drag and drag and we left, it's close to noon. sunny day, blue blue sky and nice traffic.

it's sunny, isn't it

we are on the second link loh...

3/4 of the fairy wheel is up.. said to be the largest in the world.. they're singaporean leh... kekeke...

bak chor mee (minced pork noodle) for lunch and head straight to vivocity. it's huge but too crowded. had some nice donuts, starbucks and we left to Parkway Parade. walk a lil' and eat again. ha... non-stop eating..

dinner at geylang for beef kuey teow and nice porridge before we joined Eric for karaoke. Nice to meet up with the guys although the pub is like those in Muar. :p

sunday was assigned specially for the Phantom. the show starts on time at 2pm. seat is a lil' far from the stage but this is what i can afford. show started with the scene in the auction house and chandelier lite up. show was great except the fat lady sitting beside me was humming all the way which frustrated me a bit. sigh... and she was kicked on the neck by the gal behind her.. hehe... accidentally of course.. :p

me n ed

sunset on the north-south expressway

it's a nice but tiring trip. luckily i wasn't the one who drove.. :p

Singapore hosting F1

there have been talks between Bernie Ecclestone and Singapore tycoon Ong Beng Seng about hosting a F1 race in Singapore. street circuit like Monaco is expected beside it will be held at night.

some interesting facts i found.

1. Mr Ong was borned in Malaysia
2. Mr Ong and his wife owns hotel chains and franchises like haagen dazs, hard rock cafe and fashion brand Armani (club 21 to cover the fashion range)
3. The share price shot up 26% after the talk of holding f1 races in Singapore
4. Brought in Michael Jackson and Three Tenors concert
5. Hanged out with Demi Moore, Robert Deniro and Jackie Chan

it would definitely be interesting to watch a street race at night on the busy Singapore streets. however, it's so near to the Sepang and i wonder it's feasible to have another round of race in Singapore. to pull hundred thousands of crowd paying thousand dollars to a race is not an easy task for sure. the super duper high costs of building a F1 homologated circuit is another challenge. of course they can build only a temporary structure for the pit like Albert Park, which can be converted for other usage during non-F1 season, it is still a costly and challenging project.

it's said that the result will be out in two weeks and let's keep our eye open for the final conclusion of the discussions.

my lil' nephew

i went back this CNY only realised how much weight my lil' nephew has put on. i won't or in fact inappropriate to call him lil' nephew now. he is 8 years 2 months and 35 KGS. my goodness... i dunno how much my sis-in-law has fed him!!!

but he is cute.. always the lil' nephew that i love. my grandma's favourite being the only great grandson of her. he is so lovely. he is the one calling my granny for meal, the one sweeping the floor of my sis's lil' office, the one holding his mum's hand to sleep and not his two elder sisters. surprise??

and i found out something this time i went home. he has a funny habit when he sleeps. he loves to stuff himself in the gap between the wall and the mattress. his mum said he is the one having all kind of funny position and i think she is absolutely right.

look at him.. so nice.. kekeke...

gaya mesti ada.. :D

now you agree with me?? that's my lil' nephew. kekeke...

Gong Xi Fat Cai

Gong Xi Gong Xi to all my dear friends. For those who are married, please wait for me as I am coming to collect Ang Pow from you. For those who are not married, please call me so that we can all go collect Ang Pow together. kekeke...

so difficult to have all of us together

I used to collect lotsa Ang Pow from relatives and dad's friends and even dad's customers who frequent our restaurant. Relatives still give but most of dad's friends and customers don't give me anymore. WHY WHY WHY??? It's simple!! They thought I am married!! Sigh Sigh..

New year now is not like those days. We used to have firecrackers, lion dances, red lantern and those red CNY decorations everywhere. After the reunion dinner, all kids gathered to play cards and firecrackers till midnight. I remembered those days. Although I sleep late on the new year eve, I can still wake up so early and dress up to welcome relatives to our house. I always carry a small bag to keep all my Ang Pow. Once uncles and aunties leave, I will open up the Ang Pow and peep how much they give. kekeee... If you ask about my feeling now, I will just say "damage control". kakakaa.... Try to reduce the gap of the inflow and outflow. :D

Leave aside the Ang Pow issue. CNY is always a gathering time for old school mates. We gather and play mahjong together, we drink together, we update each other, we chat till dawn.... and we all go watch movie at the one and only cineplex in Muar once a year. The auntie at the ticket booth can't understand English so we have to translate the movie title and describe the movie in Hokkien to her whenever we call to enquire on the show time.

It goes like :

B : "auntie auntie, the movie hor... ther... the one la... got the green green colour man one ah.... got show ah?" (in hokkien ok!!)

auntie : "wu wu... 7 diam, 9 diam pun wu..." (got got.. 7 o'clock... 9 o'clock also got..)

So you know which movie I am refering to?? hehe... it's Incredible Hulk.

CNY is also an eating season. Everyday every moment I am eating. Normally I put on 2-3 kgs during new year. sigh sigh... that's really bad!!

It's already the 4th day of CNY. So fast, another CNY. I wish all my dear friends a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous in this year of Boar and may all your wish comes true. :)

Pre CNY Dinner at Hakka

This is actually some company's annual dinner. and so happened that our dearest Charlie knows the boss well and always join in the celebration. and so lucky that i was invited to the annual celebration :p
The dinner was held at Hakka Restaurant in KL. although i really miss the "crappy meehoon" (actually is fried meehoon with crab :p) we had the last time but too bad people don't normally have this dish on their annual dinner menu :( sigh sigh... but i tried some other of their signature dishes that i have never tried earlier. kekeke...
It's near to CNY so yee sang is a must. norwegian salmon leh... i hardly low sang for the past years but this year is an exception. i already 'low' three times till to date. I was reading the Lilian Too's column yesterday on NST and she says year of Fire Boar is good for sheep, which is me. wahaha... the luckiest of all zodiac. all sheeps will enjoy good health wealth, success, upward mobility and career opportunities. and most importantly, singles could get married this year. wish me good luck all my dear friends!
Cool cool.. don't get too excited.. come back come back...
The yee sang was paired with Italian Patrizi Moscato d'asti DOCG. they all love it but i think it's too sweet for me. as a starter or with dessert may be but i still think it's too sweet for yee sang.
Then we had the soup. according to the emcee, it's called "monk climb over the wall" because there is no abalone!! kakakak... i like the Chilean Los Riscos Chardonnay more than the Moscato. it sounds like mosquito to me. :p
Then we were served with the Hakka famous crispy pork knuckle and some smoked duck air flown from Bangkok. Duck from Bangkok??? I prefer those with shoes.. kekekee... got me?? anyway, i don't really like the taste of the smoke duck. it's like eating some charcoal coated duck. The Italian Castelli Del Duca Sangio Vese was perfect though.
Then we had the pomfret and mustard plants. they are just normal i would
say. nothing fancy. but we had Argentinean Toro Del Piepra Reversa Cabernet Sauvignon with these two dishes. i prefer the sangio vese though.
the last dish for the night was steamed rice with those chinese dried meat. the chef at Quilin master it better. Hakka one a bit tasteless. may be because of the wines down the road, couldn't really taste the food properly. kekek... forgive me Danny.
I should not forget to mention about the Australian Farm's Shiraz. It's great but it will be better if it's served earlier of the night. When they poured the shiraz into my glass, i can't really remember what i drank already. that's probably the tenth glass or more of the night. i am lucky i could drive myself home safely. haha...
I should say Robert, the owner of the company, organise the event really well. free flow of wines all night long with nice food at reasonable price. charlie, thanks for inviting me to the fun-filled dinner. i love wine and dine!!

The Holiday

quite a long time since i last watched movie in the cinema. as i always love romance, plus i love cameron diaz, certainly i can't miss this one "The Holiday".
in chinese translation, it's "no holiday in love". i was a bit confused when i saw the title at the beginning of the show but understood why after watching the whole movie.
what an experience of home exchange!! even if i am given a chance, i will be doubtful on the fella coming over to stay at my place. sekali after two weeks, the whole house is empty!! but how nice to stay in such a big and nice house.. :) the cottage is also cosy, with a "free" man, wowowow.... what a good holiday... :p my saliva drooling and imagination going wild wild wild.... kekekeke....
and i fell in love with jude law after watching the film. gorgeous yet family man = extinct species. i believe all gals will agree with me :) without the glasses, he looks so cool and even with the specs, a little nerdy yet so man. wowowoww.... i better go to bed now and start dreaming about him. wahaha.....
it's so good until i bought a dvd to keep for future viewing... hehee....
time to go to bed now. and you know what i gonna do.. kekeke....

First CNY Low Sang

We decided to have it early before everyone starts to busy preparing Chinese New Year. Pru suggested the restaurant this time at QuiZin at Aman Suria. So we had our first CNY Low Sang of the year with our lovely wine kakis.

this is the yee sang. obviously right? :p

The food there is not too bad. We had a room for 7 of us but I think our laughter made the whole restaurant so noisy. If you were just a passer-by, you would think the restaurant is having a 100-pax dinner that night. kekeke... we were just enjoying ourselves.

With our wine kakis around, of course, a variety of wines is a MUST!! With LA moving to France now, we get to taste French wines on top of our regular Australian and New Zealand wines. We are so lucky, aren't we.

We had 7 bottles for the night, from Australian Rosemount GSM to sparkling Brut Cuvee for the Yee Sang, French Bourgogne Pinot Noir, Castello Di Pomino's Pomino Bianco, Chateau Hyot, New Zealand Clifford Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, and the finale Italian Zonin Ripasso. I can't remember the sequence correctly. Anyway, how could you expect me to still remain sober after so many bottles of wines? :p

Beside than the fanstastic wine we had, the food they served were good too. We had Yee Sang, cold dish, shark's fin soup, steamed Patin, prawns, brocolli with sea cucumber, rice and dessert. Tell me how can I solve my high cholestrol problem??? And how can I loss weight??? But I really can't resist to the great wine and food!

my lovely wine and dine kakis :)

It was a good dinner altogether and I hope there are more to come. Wishing everyone a healthy and prosperous 2007!!!

Tokyo Shopping Spree

Today is a free day for us. As it's a business trip, we gotta do something, at least we gotta pretend that we're doing. kekeke... So we went to Amlux to collect some catalogues for cars and accessories. BTW, Amlux is a showroom displaying all Toyota cars in Ikebukuro. It's a one-stop showroom for all the Toyotas but no test drive here. If not, I will request to test the super expensive but old-man-looking Century. :p

And that's all the business for the day and shopping for the rest of the day. Actually, it's just 4 hours loh... didn't manage to shop much also. Burberry Blue Label in Japan is a must-buy if you like handbags. Reasonable price and you can't get in other countries outside of Japan, not even in London!! I bought 5 altogether. Don't misunderstand, only 2 for myself. I think I am having problems chucking them into my luggage. kekeke... it's normal! :p

Didn't even have time for lunch, we shopped till dinner time and went straight for dinner at Tsukiji fish market. Let me introduce the menu to you. kekeke...
As we did not have lunch, we didn't wait for all to arrive and ordered something to fill our stomach. We saw somebody eating fish head with radish and we pointed to the waiter that we wanna have one too. We ended up had two portions. So you know how nice it's huh. :p

The radish is fantastic!!

And starving for the whole day, the fish head is definitely not enough for four of us. So we had some Yasai Tempura and Seafood Salad too.

We had the Salmon Fish Roe Roll as well. It's called Ikura Maki in Nihon-go.

Just so little?? Of course not! These are just appertizer. For those who love sashimi, look at this one.

Salmon, Hamachi, Ebi, pink one i can't remember the name, scallop in the bowl and the maroon colour one is Tuna. And the fish is Tai. Super delicious! Just melts in my mouth... yummy...

The Tai is alive when it's served. So I don't need to explain on the freshness. It's called Ikezukuri if you wanna try. The shop is at Tsukiji opposite the Tsukiji Fish Market. Must try if you visit Tokyo next time.

And Nabe (steamboat) is good for cold weather now in Japan. It's hot. We ordered a seafood nabe with different type of fishes, oysters, clams, prawns and lotsa vege. In miso soup of course.

I am so full and still blotted. How can I forget to mention the sake and Kirin beer I had? :) They're also a must-have when you visit Japan.

Tokyo Autosalon 2007 ~ 120107

Second day in Japan. As planned, we went to Tokyo Autosalon at Makahari Messe. I am not sure whether I don't appreciate much on the cars and accessories or it's just a truth that the show doesn't really excite me. But as usual, this autosalon is full with modified cars and beautiful gals :)

I love this Honda Civic particularly. Not sure about you.

And this new Skyline caught my eyes too! This is the new model according to the intro. Please don't ask me what's the difference. :p

Look at this!! Familiar?! kekeke.... it's the handbrake for Toyota Blade. Just make sure you don't pull the wrong one during emergency! :p

This year's show showcases a lot of the latest LS460. Body kit, 21" wheels, air suspension, I am loving it!!

Look at the rims!!

And please don't think you can only drift on the road. For those who love to drift but venue and marnee is a problem, try the remote control cars. I never know the remote control cars can drift as real as those on the road. And ya.. talking about drifting, I should also mention that the Sales Manager is pretty good at drifting too. And changed my impression of auto-transmission-car-cannot-drift. The new IS350 works as good!! It's as exciting ride afterall. An U-turn on Japanese road, no joke!!

The autosalon was just ok only but the dinner tonight was great. High Cholestrol?? WTF!! Don't bother, eat first!

From right : Tuna, Yellow Tail n Ebi. Good or not?? Where else can you find better sashimi than Japan??

Here comes the appertizer. Clockwise from left : Some Sushi, Fish grilled in Teriyaki sauce, Japanese Shell and of course Kani (crab). Middle one is prawn wrapped with dunno what but it tastes good too.

What's our maincourse??? of course, KANI!!
A portion for everyone of us. Just Shabu-shabu, dip in the sesame sauce (left) or soya sauce. Eat it plain is as good as it brings out the freshness of the crab. No matter how you eat it, it's fantastic!! Frankly, I have never tasted such nice crab back in Malaysia! And needless to say when you don't even have to fight with the crab! You know I don't lie when it comes to food, don't you!
That's not all. After the main course, we had some vege and noodles too. And macha ice-cream as dessert.
Haha... I am just looking forward for another dinner!!

Tokyo ~ Osaka 110107

We arrived at Narita International Airport this morning about 7:30am local time. The weather is cold. It's 0 degree celcius when we landed this morning. I was freezing just because the clever me put the jacket in my check-in luggage. And I was freezing throughout the 7 hours flight. :(

We managed to check-in earlier as we book the executive floor this time. Dumped our luggage in the room and we left for our shopping spree. As usual, the two-storey GAP outlet is something not to be missed. :) And the Takashimaya too! Just for the Burberry Blue Label. As requested by friends, I bought 4 altogether this time. :p Just hope that they will like the handbag.

Merely two hours of shopping is surely insufficient. But hoh... since this is a business trip, we try to control ourselves. Went to the principal office and had meeting till 7pm. (Please bear in mind, this consider late for us. We normally leave about 5pm for dinner. :p) And we were invited to Red Lobster for dinner and to celebrate the Sales Manager's birthday too. :)

I expected lobster but it came out with crab. Big huge snow crab. Just sweet and juicy. Yummy yummy yummy!! And the seafood pizza and seafood paella were just as great! I am still full with seafood in my stomach now. Too full and I can't sleep. That's why I am now writing my blog :p. F*#k the high cholestrol. I will deal with it when I come back from the trip. :)

Sorry guys for no photos today. My camera was left in the hotel to recharge. I promise I will show you more tomorrow. Those who love cars please beware!! The Tokyo Autosalon gonna roar!!

Lepok Waterfall Hulu Langat 070107

Ayah Lau a.k.a. dugong, we bet, definitely I am gonna win this time. Just don't tell me you are also uploading the photos. But tell you something, you're too late!! I have uploaded them all. Is it because you have spent some time to update your friendster. Wahahaha... :D

(are you wondering who's ayah lau and why dugong?? buy me a guiness draft and i will tell you more :p)

Six of us this time. Weather is nice. Looked like gonna rain but it didn't. Cold wind is bleezing. It's even cooler than Sungai Chilling. About 1 hour hike and we reached the waterfall. I think there must be rain for the past few days and the track is muddy and slippery but we managed to reach the peak less than what stated on the website. :)

Water is freezing cold. It will be great to have some whisky with mineral water to warm ourselves. Or even whisky on the rock!! (dude, i am talking the real rock k!! don't play play!) We had some biscuits and 'dog food' before dipping into the water and also to avoid those f*&^%ng leeches. We got bitten all over. I am not joking!

Ha... our lunch was good! We had turkey breast, salmon, mackerel, chicken curry, beef curry and .... .... .... roti 'kan ni nia' :p ya... also not to forget our 100 plus and DUNHILL!! (ray, i am really a bro right?!)

I thought coming down will be faster but we took about the same amount of time as we hiked up. I guess it's all due to the slippery and muddy track. Ayah slided down at certain stretch but nobody saw bcos he was simply taking his sweet time looking at the natural beauty. (yah, i am kind hoh?)

On our way back, we decided to stop at hulu langat town to have a tea break. Supposed to have some snacks but we ended up had full course meal. We had clay pot 'sang yee', curry wild boal, black pepper mutton, kailan with fish paste and noodles. Guess how much we paid for the bill?? RM68.50 to be exact including a big bottle of Tiger and a pot of chinese tea. Isn't that super cheap?? Don't ask me why. This one I won't tell you. (i think negotiable if you buy me two pints of guiness.... kekekeee...)

And throughout the whole journey we were talking about ayah. Yah, wanna know what we were talking about??? come bribe me!! hehehehee....

It's another good trekking experience and more to come!!

it's the Saigon beer

it's another day... :)

the last day at angkor

this is our last day at Angkor Archaeological Park. we're tired of temples and just wanna have an easy day.

we did ask our driver on the venue for another sunrise. our driver replied us spontaneously "NO"!! we all wondered this NO means there isn't any other site or he's just reluctant to wake up at 4am to pick us up. and we all reckon it's the later one :p

so without sunrise today, we started the day at the Srah Srang, a multi-tiered platform opposite the east entrance of Banteay Kdei. it's believed as the royal bathing pool for the King Jayavarman VII. Just look at the sun shining through the layer of clouds, I love it!! One of our friends calls this the "fairy's stairway" ~~ a stairway for fairy to go back to heaven. :) what a creative thought!

i am tired of writing. please check out my photo albums to see the beauty of these temples by your own eyes.

and last day we went Banteay Kdei - East Mebon - Ta Som - Neak Pean and Preah Khan.

the only thing i could remembered clearly now is we almost got lost at Preah Khan. it's huge and full of trees and ruins. not properly restored and it's full with corridors from all corners. and worst thing is we forgot which exit our driver wanted to wait for us. we ended up walking out to two exits trying to look for our driver. :p
